  1. a) Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)
  • For 2015 FDI for Africa reduced by 7% from $54bn (R798bn).
  • For South Africa FDI reduced by 69% to only $1.8bn – the worst in 16 years.
  • Global FDI increased by 38% to $1.76 trillion – the highest since the start of the global financial crisis.
  1. b) Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI)

For June the PMI fell to 49.6 from 50.2 in May – a drop below 50 signals contraction from growth.
